Here’s a tip for the do-it-yourself crowd:
Go to your computer’s Start menu, and either go to
“run” or just search for “cmd.”
Open it up, and type in “ping [website address],”

Once you have the IP for a website, all you really
need to do is enter it like you would
a normal URL nd hit enter/press go. Typing in
 “208.85.240.231”
should bring you to the front page of AO3,
for example, just as typing “174.121.194.34/dashboard”
should bring you straight to your Tumblr dashboard.
Since we’re obviously bracing for the worst case scenario
which would involve you not being
able to access the internet regularly, you should,
 save this list.

Dear Tumblr-ers, -ites, ettes, and whatever other things you may prefer,

Please reblog the crap out of this. Add to it if you feel there is stuff necessary but missing.

P.S. Thank you to the lovely who wrote this up.

Hey guys, look at this! Make sure to reblog it and maybe save it to a .txt document, eh? I’ll put this in the FAQ tag just in case.

i’m actually really glad you asked that!
step 1: open photoshop
i use photoshop cs3, but i’m pretty sure this will work for all photoshops?
step 2: open a new file (make sure it’s 400px wide or less!!)
tumblr doesn’t like fat gifs in their text posts. :/
(edit: actually, you can have a gif wider than this in a text post. i just use 400px just to be safe. you can do whatever you want!)

step 3: draw your base
most of the time i draw people, so i draw a head and torso for my base

step 4: draw what parts you are animating
i want to draw myself waving at my lovely followers, so i would draw an arm in different positions; each on a different layer.

step 5: open the “animations” window
head on over to the “windows” menu and click “animations” in the drop box

this will pop up:

step 6: start animating!! ;0
create a new layer in the animations window (pictured above). make sure the frames are correct! my first time animating i kept some layers on in frames they weren’t supposed to be on in, so i ended up having mutant people a lot. haha. ; u;
for a simple two-frame animation, it should look like this:

notice how i turn off layer one in the second frame and layer two in the first frame. like i said, you don’t want mutant people!
step 7: adjust your framerate, &c.
underneath each frame there is a little drop box where you can adjust how long your gif will remain in that frame! for the above gif i kept it at 0.5 sec so it wouldn’t be too fast for you to read. hehe. v uv
also, make sure you set the gif to loop “forever!”
step 8: file > “save to web and devices”
one does not simply “save” a gif! once you are done with everything, make sure you choose the save option above! otherwise, your image will be static.
another menu will pop up letting you adjust more stuff. i didn’t bother screencapping this because i don’t bother with it anyway. heh. > u>;;
click “save” in the top right and save your gif!
step 9: admire your finished product!!
haha, this one is actually pretty cute. ; u;/

woohoo! now you’re done!
i hope this helped, anon! feel free to drop me another ask if you need anything else!

Oooh ooh Alisa thank you thank you this is good

Guys look this is a really neato tutorial! Check it out!
(putting this in the FAQ tag for future reference!)

SORRY, SORRY

I meant all requests will go under the “requests” tag.

THIS will go in the FAQ

Hussie dancing on top of an infinite "Hussie dancing on Hussie" loop.

Just as a message to everyone, not just this person, “Hussie dancing on Hussie” requests and those like it will be deleted. I’m not sick of them, it’s just that there have been so many, and we have enough.

This will be going in the FAQ tag.

Alright guys, this is how it’s gonna go down.

Requests are now open, you can send in what you want, anon or not. I’ll send out three or four requests each day for you guys to do if you want. Some I might do, those I’ll keep in the inbox.

Now, because of this, be aware: if you send in a request, it may or may not be done by someone.

Another thing: Submissions following these requests will be first come first serve, and the requests deleted from the page once they’re done, like how I used to do it.

REQUESTS ON THE BLOG PAGE WILL BE DELETED AFTER TWO DAYS TO AVOID CLUTTER.

NOW. If anyone has any questions about this, feel free to ask. This will be put in the FAQ tag and edited as I see fit.

What made you wanna make this account and make these cute/funny Gifs? :3

This one’s definitely going in #FAQ.

The Andrew Hussie Dancing in Places he Shouldn’t idea was spawned by a submission sent to homestuckheadspastedontothings with the dancing Hussie .gif pasted onto a picture. The OP of hshpot called for someone to make a blog centered around the idea. For a few posts they did it their self, until I got this blog set up and let them know of its’ existance! The rest is history.

SIGH so i am using Photoshop CS2 and after following your instructions, I end up with a layered image that i am unable to manipulate in the animation tray. Any suggestions on what could be the issue here? Thank you very much! :3

A layered image you can’t manipulate in the animation toolbar you say? I’m intrigued. The thing is, you don’t animate within the toolbar, the animation toolbar acts as a camera in a sort of stop motion “movie”. You move the image around, or change it, then add a new frame, and repeat. We can use the dancing Hussie .gif as an example.

You have four layers, all different Hussie poses, and one frame in your animation toolbar. Your first frame shows only the first layer of the whole .gif, i.e. you have layer 1 showing, and the rest hidden. Then you add another frame, hide the first layer, and SHOW the second layer. Add another frame, hide the second, show the first, etc. Stop motion animation is the key to making a .gif in Photoshop.

Did this help? Or are there any more questions?

I have an answer for doublepistols-and-a-wink! It's showing up as 'Index' because the image is in indexed color mode. To fix that, go up to the Image menu, then to Mode, and click RGB Color. It should work fine after that. c:

Oh, fantastic! Thanks for the help, I actually had a few problems with that as well.
